29 September 2002 Today the homepage was made operational on a new webhost. If you accessed the site via the old url you will have been redirected here, to the new host. The only change you should notice is that you can now access the homepage via the URL http://www.charlesdance.co.uk without having to resort to tricks to make Netscape bookmark it properly!
The move required that I update image and page links throughout the site, and there were a lot of them. Please let me know if you find anything that isn't working.
Update on our move to the US: We were supposed to be there by now, but due to circumstances beyond our control we've been delayed. However, I fully expect to make my next update in mid-October from our new digs in NY State. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who wished us well in our Great Expedition Across the Pond, we really appreciate your kind thoughts!
5 July 2002 Okay, kiddies, anyone out there with fond memories of 'Dan Dare'? If so, you'll want to catch the new Saturday morning cartoon on Channel 5 here in the UK. It began running today at 8.55am, and Charles provides the voice for one of the baddies. You'll have to watch all 26 episodes to see which one he turns up in, though.
Also, beginning at 9.15pm July 12th on BBC Radio 2, you can hear Charles reading the first of seven 15-minute episodes of "The Four Feathers". This classic 1902 adventure by A.E.W. Mason describes British army officer Harry Feversham's endeavor to overcome the false label of "coward". (Thank you, Amazon.) You may be able to listen on the Internet via the BBC Radio Homepage, although I'm not certain they provide continuous live feed.
2 July 2002 After an ashamedly long absence from this space, I'm back -- just in time to tell you my husband and I are emigrating from this fair land (that would be England) to the northeastern USA before summer's end. Everyone has been asking "WHY?" as if we were choosing to leave heaven for some lesser realm. All I can say is that many things contributed to our decision to move, but the cost of living in the UK was the overriding factor. 'Heaven', as some might view it, doesn't come cheap!
So how will our change of habitat affect this website? Well, it won't. All my virtual homes are staying put, so you don't have to worry about re-bookmarking anything.
Charlie has been aware of our intentions for some time. He seems to think he's losing a webmistress -- I'm trying to convince him that he's gaining a Stateside guesthouse. ;) In fact our move should have no impact whatsoever on my communications with him, although it could make planning future Angel Flights a bit trickier.
Speaking of Charlie (hey, isn't that what this website is about?), I hope to have some news to share with all of you soon. In the meantime you might want to read Choice Cuts, an article written by Himself in 2000 and recently (re)submitted for our enjoyment by Doris.
